The Ossining Room:
Here are displayed Indian artifacts,
memorabilia from Sing Sing Prison, early
settler tools and utensils, and a representative collection
of China. Oil paintings of our village by
local residents adorn the walls along with our beautiful
community quilt made by friends of the
Society in 1981.
Special Exhibit Room:
In this room are display cases of
collections belonging to the society and on
private loan to us, which are changed with regularity. This
room also contains a portion of the
Museum's valuable art collection.
>
Portrait Gallery: This area has several large framed
portraits of early village residents.
Historic Landmark: Our home here dates back to 1872,
formally owned by Richard Austin. The
property dates back to the year 1853 when it was owned by
Jeremiah Sniffen, father-in-law of Mr.
Austin.
The Ossining Historical Society was founded in the 1931 and
was housed at Washington School for
37 years. The museum was placed on the National Register in
1988.
