The Ossining Historical Society was organized in 1931 as a non-profit organization with the following objectives:
-to educate the public in the history and traditions of Ossining and vicinity.
-to receive and maintain a collection of books, manuscripts, pictures, historical records, relics, and other memorials bearing upon local and general history.
-to promote through the establishment and maintenance of a museum and allied projects programs which bring about better understanding and appreciation of history through the collection, conservation, preservation, restoration, study, and exhibition of items of historical importance.
